Faye Carol has been part of the Bay Area music scene since she moved from Meridian, Mississippi to Pittsburg, California as a young girl. Known widely as the ‘Dynamic Miss Faye Carol,’ she defies labels -- singing everything from cabaret to gospel to jazz.
After beginning her career with gospel music, Ms. Carol was an integral part of Oakland's innovative funk scene in the 1960s and later went on to form her own trio. She soon built a reputation as a daringly versatile and consistently creative vocal stylist arranging standards and popular songs in her own unique way. She and pianist Joe Warner are in the midst of an extended Sunday residency at The Back Room in Berkeley, and they join host Devon Strolovitch live in the studio this Wednesday 3/29 at 9 pm.
