For our new series Bay Views, we ask someone to go deep and think about an aspect of their Bay Area life that touches on a larger issue. Today, we’ll hear from Ximena Vengoechea about what it’s like to be a first-gener working in technology in San Francisco. She currently manages a team of researchers at Pinterest.

I want more of us -- Latinos, first geners, immigrants -- to reap some of the benefits of the tech boom out here, not just the drawbacks.

Ximena Vengoechea is a design researcher, writer, and illustrator whose work on personal and professional development has been published in Fast Company, Newsweek, and The Muse, among others. Follow her on Twitter and on her personal website.

Do you have a Bay View you’d like to share? Send us your ideas for a personal essay on life in the Bay Area and the issues affecting our region. If chosen, we’ll help you develop it to air on Crosscurrents. Send ideas to bayviews@kalw.org and please include your name and phone number.
