Oakland mayoral candidate Peter Liu on politics, tourism, and jobs

Peter Liu is running for mayor of Oakland.

Peter Liu is running for mayor of Oakland. In just under three weeks, Oakland residents will be casting their ballots to re-elect Mayor Libby Schaaf or vote for a change in leadership.

Army veteran Liu ran for California governor in this year’s Republican primary and lost. This is his second run for mayor of Oakland.

"When you go through school, they don't teach you the employer mentality. They teach you the employee mentality."

He spoke with KALW’s Jenee Darden at Lake Merritt about his politics and ideas for the city.
