Work with Marty Nemko, 2/28/19: Getting a book published in 2019

On the Feb. 28, 2019 edition of Work with Marty Nemko, I talk with Jeff Herman, a literary agent who has sold 1,000 books to publishers and is the author of two books that have sold more than a half million copies: Write the Perfect Book Proposal and Jeff Herman's Guide to Book Publishers, Editors, and Literary Agents(28th edition.)

The publishing world is radically changing. How does one get published in 2019, and is book publishing still worth it in an era in which so many people prefer short-form digital video? Artificial intelligence and social media are having a role in the change too.  How about self-publishing? Do you need an agent? How to use social media in marketing your book. We'll address all that.In the program's second segment, you can call in for a Workover: I try to help with whatever career ill ails you.

Work with Marty Nemko is heard every Thursday from 7 to 8 PM on KALW 91.7 FM in San Francisco and worldwide on KALW.org.

The programs are archived on NPR.org, iTunes, and in perpetuity on this web page.
