Did you know that this station’s license is owned by San Francisco Unified School District? That’s why we broadcast those school board meetings and read the school lunch menu every weekday morning. It’s also why our studios are at Burton High School which, as it turns out, is in the middle of a food desert. The nearest restaurant is a long walk and big hill away. There is one other option: the school’s cafeteria. We’ve talked about checking it out for years, but no one from KALW has ventured there. Until now. Throughout our spring membership campaign, we're featuring stories from the Burton High School cafeteria. Bon appetit!
