Work with Marty Nemko, 3/27/19: Negotiating Compensation in a Time of Low Unemployment

Unemployment is near a 50-year lowand wage growth in the most recent year has been, perhaps surprisingly, twice as high for the bottom half of earners as for the top half. That's a favorable environment for workers attempting to negotiate for better pay and benefits. I offer tips on how to prepare practically and psychologically, and, in the actual negotiation, how to stay strong without being unreasonable. In the program's second half, you can call in for a Workover. I do my best to help you address your career  or other work issue.

Work with Marty Nemko is heard every Thursday from 7 to 8 PM on KALW 91.7 FM in San Francisco and worldwide on KALW.org.

The programs are archived on NPR.org, iTunes, and in perpetuity on this web page.
