Work with Marty Nemko, 7/3/16: Nerd Nobel Winner Live

On the July 3, 2016 edition of Work with Marty Nemko, I have the privilege of having a conversation with Whitfield Diffie, the most recent winner of the $1,000,000 Turing Prize: the equivalent of the Nobel Prize for computing. Its nickname: "The Nerd Nobel."  He is the architect of modern-day computer security. We'll talk about what it's really like to be a cryptographer, the steps he took toward his breakthrough achievement, and about Whit, the human being. I heard about him because he listens to my show and I'm honored to say that we've become friends.

As time permits, I'll also do Workovers on callers. Whatever career conundrum ails you or someone you care about, I can usually help.

Work with Marty Nemko is heard every Sunday on 91.7 FM, KALW in San Francisco and worldwide on KALW.org.

The program is archived on NPR.org an iTunes and in perpetuity on this page.
