Ayo Jackson is the youngest member of the band Jax. The Haitian-American sibling trio are all teens from East Oakland. Jackson captivates audiences with her mad drum skills. In this story, she shares what it’s like performing with her family.
"I was the youngest one in the group and playing the biggest instrument, so people were shocked when this little person came from behind this big drum set."
The band splits their time between Oakland and Port au Prince, Haiti. Living in two countries influences their sound. It has elements of soul, hip-hop, rock and Caribbean music. Their debut album is called "The Glo Up."
Jax has shared the stage with major artists, such as Yo-Yo Ma, Tony Toni Tone, Jennifer Hudson and Sheila E.
