The 57th annual Cabrillo Festival in Santa Cruz: As America’s foremost celebration of contemporary symphonic music, the mission of the festival is to re-imagine the orchestral experience by advancing music and developing audiences for the 21st century. This year, the festival features a free concert of new works by emerging artists on July 28; a night with Grammy Award-winning vocal ensemble Roomful of Teeth (August 4) and a night dedicated to Wynton Marsalis (August 11). KALW's Sarah Cahill will host the station's annual broadcasts of the festival in August.

Buy tickets now and join us in Santa Cruz. Also, tune in to KALW this month for ticket giveaways.

And remember to mark these dates in your calendar for four nights of Cabrillo Festival broadcasts with host Sarah Cahill:

“Notorious,” featuring music by four audacious women composers: Nina C. Young, Caroline Shaw, Melody Eötvös, and Kristin Kuster. // Sunday, August 18 at 8pm

“Contrasts,” presenting music by composers Du Yun, Anna Clyne, Jake Heggie, and Dan Dediu. // Monday, August 19 at 9pm

“Secret Songs,” featuring the music of Hannah Lash, Preben Antonsen, Vivian Fung, and Tan Dun. // Sunday, August 25 at 8pm

“Wynton,” presenting two classical compositions by American jazz master Wynton Marsalis. // Monday, August 26 at 9pm
