Ep. 10 - The Warriors leave BART

Tomorrow night, the Warriors will play their last game in Oakland. When the team leaves the Coliseum, they’ll leave behind a stadium that’s ideal for public transit riders.

You just take BART and cross the footbridge. But the new Chase Center in Mission Bay isn’t near a BART stop. And there won’t be much parking — just 950 spots on site for a sports center that can seat 18,000. So, how will Dubs fans get to the game?

"Make transit your first choice. And also, bear with us. The thing we learned when we opened the Giants ballpark 19 years ago was that we did pretty well on the first day. We did even better on the next day." - Tom Maguire, SFMTA

More information on how to take light rail, buses, or ferries – yes, ferries – to Mission Bay.

I joined KALW in 2004. As Executive News Editor and then News Director, I helped our news department win numerous regional and national awards for long- and short-form journalism. I've also helped create numerous training programs — for teenagers, incarcerated people, and early-career journalists — and have taught hundreds of audio producers. I served as interim Executive Director for nearly two years. My work is currently focused on creating original live events, programming, and building partnerships with like-minded organizations.
Eli is the Program Director for KALW's project in state prisons. We teach incarcerated people how to record and edit audio stories, and air them as part of the series Uncuffed.
