1770 – Boston Massacre: Five Americans, including Crispus Attucks, are fatally shot by British troops in an event that would contribute to the outbreak of the American Revolutionary War (also known as the American War of Independence) five years later.

The Fifth of March is a 1995 novel about the Boston Massacre by historian and author Ann Rinaldi about a fourteen-year-old indentured servant named Rachel Marsh who finds herself changing as she meets many people

including a British soldiers and survivors of the massacre.
