This week on Open Air, host David Latulippe talks with artistic director Ariel Craft and playwright Oren Stevens, about the world premiere of MacBitch. Presented by The Breadbox, MacBitch features an all female cast of ten. Through August 19 at EXIT Theatre, 156 Eddy Street in San Francisco.

Stopping by from West Edge Opera is director Aria Umezawa, who makes her West Edge debut directing ‘Hamlet’ by Ambroise Thomas, part of the 2017 festival which also includes ‘Frankenstein’ and ‘The Chastity Tree’, ongoing through August 20.

Also joining us in the studio is producer and comedian Samson Koletkar, to share details about the 4th Annual Desi Comedy Fest, an 11-day South Asian stand up comedy extravaganza touring comedy clubs and theaters in 9 cities throughout Northern California. The festival is the largest of its kind in the US, runs August 10-20 and features 40 South Asian comedians from all over the US, India and South Africa with diverse ethnic and religious backgrounds.

Plus, we talk with Merola artists David Weigel (bass-baritone) and Ashley Dixon (mezzo-soprano). Both singers have returned to participate in the Merola Opera Program for the summer, and are part of the Merola Grand Finaleon August 19.
