Weekend Go-Tos for November 18, 2016

SF LGBT Community Center will host the 18th Annual Trans Day of Remembrance this Sunday.

Show support for local organizations focused on peace and inclusion in these suggested events happening this weekend around the Bay Area.

The Mountain View Public Library will host a free, drop-in bike workshop tomorrow from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Pro bike mechanics will be on hand to answer any questions you have about your bike, as well fix issues you’re looking to have some help with. No pre-registration is required, just show up with your bike to the Dero Fixit station, 585 Franklin Street in Mountain View.

Also tomorrow, the Oakland Peace Center will host a Post-Election Resource Fair, featuring representatives from over two dozen local organizations that focus on increasing inclusion, like the Arab Resource and Organizing Center, Asian Law Caucus, Oakland Women’s Center, and many more. There will also be anti-assault and hate crime intervention trainings too. The Post-Election Resource Fair starts tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. lasting until 5:00 p.m. at 259 29th Street in Oakland. You can view the full line-up of participating organizations here.

And if you haven’t participated yet in the San Francisco LGBT Community Center’s annual Trans Day of Remembrance, we can’t think of a better year to start. This Sunday, hundreds will gather in downtown San Francisco to remember and honor those who have lost their lives to anti-transgender hatred and prejudice, and show support for the transgender community both locally and across the world. People are encouraged to meet at 730 Polk Street at 3:00 p.m. They’re also looking for more volunteers for the event. You can find details at TDORSF.org.
