Weekend Go-Tos for June 24, 2016

ODC returns to get the dance party started at SF Pride this weekend.

Ready for Pride this weekend? Or maybe you're looking for something more low-key to do? We have you covered in our suggestions for what to do around the Bay Area this weekend.

Happy Pride! If you’re planning on celebrating in San Francisco this weekend, you’ll find helpful information on how to navigate celebrations at sfpride.org. As you might have heard there are new safety guidelines in effect this year, including the addition of security screenings for some events and new guidelines about what you can bring inside. You can find that information here. And remember to have fun, stay safe, and look out for each other.

On Saturday and Sunday, Oakland’s Mosswood Park will turn into a multi-stage, rock fest for the annual BurgerBoogaloo. Expect two days filled with performances from punk legends from the Bay Area and beyond, as well as up-and-coming rock and rollers, all emceed by the King of Trash himself, John Waters. See who will be there at burgerboogaloo.com.

If crowds aren’t an ideal addition to your weekend, maybe a film screening tucked away in the hills of Marin is a better fit for you. On Sunday, The Headlands Center for the Arts will dedicate the entire day to the New Games Foundation and festivals of the 1970’s, whose first iteration took place in the Headlands’ valley. The day begins at 11:00 a.m. with a screening of and conversation about the 1973 New Games documentary. To view a full itinerary of the day, head to headlands.org.

Is there an event happening this weekend that you'd like folks to know about? Feel free to add it below in the comments section.
