Today's Public Radio Party: Everything you need to know!
This Saturday, October 10th from 2-8pm on the Mission Campus of the City College of San Francisco, KALW will host the second annual Public Radio Party – a celebration of creative radiomaking and the community that supports it.
You’ll have the chance to meet dozens of KALW host and producers, including Rose Aguilar, Hana Baba, AshleyanneKrigbaum, and JoAnn Mar. And Le Show's Harry Shearer is making a special trip to join the celebration. Here's the schedule for the day:
2:00 Gates open at 22nd & Bartlett.
3:00 NPR Digital Correspondent Laura Sydell previews her story about BlabDroid, the interviewing robot.
4:00 99% Invisible's Katie Mingle on the art of audio storytelling.
4:45 Rose Aguilar talk about the present and future of Your Call.
6:00 Le Show's Harry Shearer.
7:00 The Minds Over Matter "pub quiz".
Plus, musical performances by Quinn DeVeaux, Avi Vinocur (of Goodnight, Texas) and Diana Gameros.
How to get there? 24th Street BART is four blocks away, and the CCSF Mission Campus is well-served by MUNI on both Valencia and Mission Street. If you drive, we recommend the Mission Bartlett Garage.
Food and drink? We'll serve light refreshments and cake. Restaurants and watering holes are just steps away.
What to wear? Your favorite public radio gear and a jacket. This is an outdoor event.
Is it kid-friendly? Yes! We want to cultivate the public radio listeners of the future! And if there's a friend or family member who decides to join you at the last minute, they are welcome.
To be on the guest list, you simply need to be an active member of KALW. If that's you, come on out!
