Weekend Go-Tos for August 6, 2015

Saw-Off Contestant Rosalyn Claret at the Musical Saw Festival.

We have handpicked a few suggestions on how to spend your weekend here in our lovely Bay Area.

Stewart says "goodbye" to the Daily Show on Thursday.

Tonight is the last episode of the Daily Show with Jon Stewart as host, and if you are looking to watch the episode with a community, The Chapel on Valencia Street in San Francisco is hosting a free viewing party, starting at 7:00 p.m. You can RSVP at thechapelsf.com.

Across the bay in Oakland tonight, local band Cold Beat headlines an evening of indie rock and surf pop upstairs at the Night Light, near Jack London Square. The show starts at 8:00 p.m., and boasts a four band lineup.

Saturday marks the beginning of the 38th Annual Musical Saw Festival in Felton. Over the weekend-long festival, you can expect continuous music, along with a “Saw Off” contest, potlucks, and even a free workshop for those who want to learn to saw (musically, of course). You can get all the details about the two-day festival at sawplayers.org.

2011 Poet's Picnic in Benicia City Park.

You can spend this Sunday afternoon hanging out with poet laureates from around the Bay Area at the 2015 Poets Picnic at the Benicia City Park Gazebo. Whether you are a poet or not, you’re invited to join the event, meet local poet laureates, and listen as they share their work. Folks are encouraged to bring a dish to share, and your own blankets and chairs for seating. This free event begins at noon and lasts until 5:00 p.m.

Is there an event happening this weekend that you'd like folks to know about? Feel free to add it below in the comments section.
