Sights and Sounds of Bayview event on Friday, June 19th!

Join KALW at the Joseph Lee Recreation Center on Friday, June 19 at 7 p.m. for an evening of storytelling, live music, and dance.

The second Sights and Sounds of Bayview will be hosted by Crosscurrents’ Hana Baba. The event will feature stories about the remarkable people who live, work, and make a positive impact in the neighborhood. Sights and Sounds of Bayview is part of 3rd on Third, presented by the Bayview Opera House. The event is made possible by the San Francisco Arts Commission and the San Francisco Public Utilities Company and sponsored by Independent Arts and Media.

7:00-8:30pm - Live Performance

A deeply rooted sisterhood thrives in a long standing after-school program called GIRLS 2000. Produced by Mwende Hahesy, photographed by Astra Brinkmann.

Local activist Eddy Zheng is organizing a historical tour of the Bayview that engages monolingual immigrants' interests to build a vibrant community. Produced by Kyung Jin Lee, photographed by Astra Brinkmann. 

The Idriss Stelley Foundation has worked for over a decade to take political action against police brutality and help aggrieved families recover. Produced by Rachel Wong, photographed by Kevin Jones. 

Community Youth Center's Bayview Youth Advocates program develops youth leadership skills to advocate for and implement improvements in the neighborhood. Produced by Liz Mak, photographed by Kevin Jones. 

Zaccho Dance Theatre offers aerial dance classes for youth; the dancing elevates the young dancers and helps them to symbolically elevate above their daily obstacles. Produced by Todd Whitney, photographed by TaSin Sabir.
