KALW's Hear Here community storytelling team has been taking its microphones to the boundaries of San Francisco and Oakland, as far west as the Outer Richmond and as far east as East Oakland. They've been gathering local residents' stories of love, work, family, and also struggle in order to showcase the diverse range of experiences happening across these two cities.
At St. Mary's Senior Center in Oakland, KALW's Audrey Dilling met Sandra Gahm in a women's support group. There, Gahm explained that when she found herself homeless and dependent on alcohol, she realized she needed to make a big change in her life.
