Hailing from Perth, Western Australia, Tame Impala is out to prove that psychedelic rock is alive and well in 2010. With its debut, Innerspeaker, the band has crafted a sharp, seamless album that brings to mind everything from The Beatles to Animal Collective. An album’s album, so to speak, Innerspeaker flows together as one big, acid-drenched wave.
Recorded in a beach shanty near the band's hometown, the record features catchy melodies, hazy guitars and laid-back, '60s-inspired grooves. Better yet, this retro-ness feels totally natural, even authentic. It's an ideal soundtrack for zoning out on a hot day.
