Independent comics and art book publisher Last Gasp celebrates their 46th year of printing with a group exhibition of artwork opening tonight at 111 Minna Gallery in San Francisco. You can expect paintings, drawings, and sculptures from low brow legends like Ron English, Elizabeth McGrath, Junko Mizuno, and more. Get to know your local record nerds tomorrow at KFJC’s annual record swap. Tomorrow’s event will feature stacks for you to peruse from local shops and avid record collectors. Guest DJs will also be spin the soundtrack while folks browse. This event is all ages and free. Happening from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Empire Seven Studios in San Jose.
Power and elegance. Tenderness and strength. For more than a half-century, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater has embodied these traits with performances set to uplift and transform. They’ll bring their moves back to Cal Performances this Sunday afternoon at Zellerbach Hall in Berkeley.
