Artist Ron English will have work on display at tonight's celebrations for SF publisher Last Gasp.

Happy April 1st! If you’re looking for fun and unique things to do over the weekend, we’ve mined a few suggestions with no tricks, just treats. 

Independent comics and art book publisher Last Gasp celebrates their46thyearof printing with a group exhibition of artwork opening tonight at 111 Minna Gallery in San Francisco. You can expect paintings, drawings, and sculptures from low brow legends like Ron English, Elizabeth McGrath, Junko Mizuno, and more. Tonight’s opening is free, 21 and over, and starts at 5:00 p.m. You can get more details at lastgasp.com.

Get to know your local record nerds tomorrow at KFJC’sannual record swap. Tomorrow’s event will feature stacks for you to peruse from local shops and avid record collectors. Guest DJs will also be spin the soundtrack while folks browse. This event is all ages and free. Happening from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Empire Seven Studios in San Jose.

Power and elegance. Tenderness and strength. For more than a half-century, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater has embodied these traits with performances set to uplift and transform. They’ll bring their moves back to Cal Performances this Sunday afternoon at Zellerbach Hall in Berkeley.
