Join us for The Shelter-In-Place Free Folk Festival preview TODAY (this Saturday) at 3 p.m. on KALW’s “Folk Music & Beyond.” Our San Francisco Free Folk Festival preview show originally scheduled was canceled because the festival itself got canceled. Today’s program features some of the musicians who would have been headlining this year’s festival. They contributed songs from home while sheltering in place. We’ll also hear an encore broadcast of the Shook Twins live in the KALW studios. Laurie and Katelyn Shook made quite a splash at the 2012 free folk festival with their giant golden egg.
Listen to our live broadcast at 91.7 or on-line at https://www.kalw.org/#stream/0 . If you can’t listen live this afternoon, the program will be archived for on-demand listening one week following the broadcast at https://www.kalw.org/programs/folk-music-beyond .
Just announced! An on-line alternative festival will happen next Saturday (June 13th) in place of the San Francisco Free Folk Festival. Many of the musicians who would have headlined will perform on-line as part of the alternative festival. Go to https://sffolkfest.org/program-2020/ for the complete schedule. The festival starts at 12 noon and continues until 10 p.m. next Saturday. Some events involving audience participation require pre-registration.
