On November 4th, Oakland voters will pick their next mayor. All month on “Crosscurrents,” we are going to bring you the voices of each of the 15 people who are campaigning for the job.
Saied Karamooz is He's an Iranian American business man who’s lived in Oakland for 10 years. He's never been in politics, doesn't accept campaign donations, and says the city needs someone with corporate experience like him, to bring in buisness.
He also wants to redefine who can be an Oakland police officer, and encourage redevelopment, provided, he says, it respects the communities that have lived there for generations.
