Corona Radio Theater: BATS Improv - Frameline 44 Pride Showcase - Peter Robinson on Film Noir

This week on Open Air, guest host Leah Garchik welcomes members of BATS Improvon to the virtual stage of our Corona Radio Theater, with a completely original radio play, improvised live in the style of the Golden Age of Radio, titled “BATS Improv Presents the BATS RadioVenture Hour”.

Their performance will be an example of BATS Improv’s one-of-a-kind blend of theatre, comedy, and acting that’s quite different from stand-up or sketch. Founded in 1986, BATS Improv is the most highly acclaimed and longest-running improvised theatre company and school in San Francisco and all of Northern California.

A professional theatre company, BATS Improv is a center for improvised theatre and an artistic community that cultivates and innovates the craft of improvised theatre through engaging, playful, creative performance and training.

The BATS players performing on this week’s Corona Radio Theater are Tim Orr, John Remak, Ken Robertson, Lisa Rowland, Regina Saisi, Rebecca Stockley, and Joshua Raoul Brody (music and sound effects).

We talk with Paul Struthers, director of exhibition and programming for Frameline, the world’s longest running and largest showcase of queer cinema, about the Frameline44 Pride Showcase, taking place Thursday, June 25 through Sunday, June 28, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of San Francisco Pride.
