How graffiti art paved the way for a children’s clothing line

In the Bay Area’s Independent Clothing Market, it’s not uncommon for the worlds of fashion and art to intersect. One artist who has made the transition from the spray can to garments is San Francisco’s NathanTan

"I knew once it became more than just a hobby how to utilize it in my life."

He got into the local graffiti scene in the 1980s and later transitioned into the children’s fashion industry. After starting out of his Sunset District garage, Nate’s clothing company New Skool has gone on to have items sold in boutiques throughout the city and even as far as Japan and Ireland He stopped by KALW to share his story
