This week on Open Air, KALW’s radio magazine for the Bay Area performing arts, host David Latulippe talks with actors Caitlin McGinty and Dan Demers, both part of the production of the hilarious maritime musical Anything Goes, at Hillbarn Theatre in Foster City (Aug 30 - Sept 15).

With music and lyrics by Cole Porter, the 1934 musical Anything Goes is set on board of an ocean liner, on its way from New York to London. Based on an original book by P.G. Wodehouse and others, this classic musical features hits including I Get A Kick Out Of YouYou’re The TopAnything Goes, and All Through The Night

This production of Anything Goes opens the 2019–20 season at Hillbarn Theater (1285 E. Hillsdale Blvd.) in Foster City. As executive artistic director, Dan Demers (who plays Elishah Whitney) also provides an overview of Hillbarn’s upcoming season.

From the Pear Theatre in Mountain View, we are joined by artistic director Betsy Kruse Craig and director Jenny Hollingworth to talk about the upcoming production of Oscar Wilde's classic comedy of virtue and moral inflexibility, An Ideal Husband. All performances are at the Pear Theatre (1110 La Avenida St.) in Mountain View.

An Ideal Husband  opens the new season at the Pear Theatre on  August 22, and runs through September 15. With Betsy Kruse Craig we will also look ahead to what else is coming up this season

Open Air’s regular contributor and critic at large, Peter Robinson, remembers Toni Morrison's life and legacy; and he has a conversation with Philippa Kelly, resident dramaturg at the California Shakespeare Theater (Cal Shakes) in Orinda, about the upcoming production of Shakespeare’s Macbeth, which opens on September 18. Directed by Victor Malana Maog, Macbeth runs through October 13 at the Bruns Amphitheatre (100 California Shakespeare Theater Way) in Orinda.

Open Air with host David Latulippe; heard live on Thursday, August 22 at 1pm. Listen now or anytime...
