We have a few suggestions for you on what to do around the Bay Area this weekend.

Tonight, UC Berkeley will host a launch party for the new exhibit, “Beyond Tintin and Superman: The Diversity of Global Comics.” The exhibit explores themes of censorship, race, politics, and gender bias through a selection of comics and graphic novels from all over the world, including Egypt, Poland, South Africa, Israel, the Czech Republic, Colombia, and Japan. The reception begins at 5:00 p.m. tonight at the Morrison Library at UC Berkeley, and the exhibit can be viewed through March 2017 at the Doe Library on campus.

This Saturday, LitQuake’s infamous Lit Crawl will take over the streets of The Mission, presenting 60 events in just under four hours. The crawl begins at 6:00pm on Saturday, and you can decide which of the many performances you’d like to experience that evening with help from the online LitCrawl planner. KALW’s Sights & Sounds is also taking part in the crawl with a presentation at 7:15pm at the Make Out Room.

Every weekend until Halloween, Alameda's historic aircraft carrier The USS Hornet transforms into an otherworldly haunting experience. Friday through Sunday, starting at 7:00 p.m. and going late into the night. (Children under the age of 10 are urged not to attend.) More on the haunted storyline for the event, and ticket information, are at scarecopro.com.

Is there an event happening this weekend that you'd like folks to know about? Feel free to add it below in the comments section.
