On this edition of Your Call, we’re discussing the Bay Area’s shelter in place policy. Those in San Francisco, Santa Clara, San Mateo, Marin, Contra Costa and Alameda Counties are being asked to stay home except for essential activities until at least April 7th. This is the first drastic measure to take place in the US. Experts say if this works and we flatten the curve, others will follow.
We’ll also get an update on a possible vaccine. A clinical trial evaluating a vaccine designed to protect against COVID-19 has begun at the Kaiser Permanente Washington Health Research Institute in Seattle. The trial will enroll 45 healthy adult volunteers ages 18 to 55 years over six weeks, according to the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. The first participant received the vaccine on Monday.
