Blues, Jazz, and Soul at the Oscars

It was a very good year for movie soundtracks.

The 93rd Academy Awards will take place this coming Sunday, and after a year in which most movies were never screened in a theater, several came with soundtracks that caught our ears. We'll listen to tracks featured in Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, One Night in Miami, The United States vs. Billie Holiday, and Soul. Wednesday 4/21 at 9 pm.

Devon Strolovitch studied medieval Judeo-Portuguese manuscripts and earned a PhD in Linguistics from Cornell University before coming to KALW. He is the Senior Producer of Philosophy Talk, and since 2007 has hosted Fog City Blues, the weekly digest of Blues in the Bay Area and beyond.
