How will gerrymandering impact the 2018 midterm elections?

Architect of the Capitol

On this edition of Your Call, we discuss gerrymandering. In 2012, House Democrats got 1.4 million more votes than Republicans, but because of gerrymandering, Republicans won control of the House by a 234 to 201 margin.

At that time, Republicans spent $30 million on a multiyear gerrymandering strategy. Where are we today? Earlier this year, the Supreme Court declined to rule on two key gerrymandering cases, sending them back to state courts. Many states have now put redistricting reform on their ballots. How will gerrymandering shape the November election and how can we make sure that every vote counts?
