This week on KALW's showcase for the best stories from public radio podcasts and independent radio producers...
"Frances McDormand & Risotto," excerpted from the podcast Cooking by Ear, March 2018.
Cooking by Ear is a new podcast that invites you to cook along a recipe with them in real time and by the end of the episode, you’ll have a meal ready to dive into. Hosted by Chef Cal Peternell, author and former head chef at Chez Panisse, we’re lead into the kitchens of non-chefs, including notable actors, poets, filmmakers, and more to test out a simple recipe created by Chef Peternell.
Today on The Spot, we’re lucky to have the producer of Cooking by Ear, Kristina Loring, in the studio to take us behind the table to find out more about how the “sausage” of the show is made.
"While our onions are sizzling, or the water is boiling, we're talking you through with conversation and some key tips. We're trying to just hold your hand and keep you company in the kitchen and you don't have to worry about so much." - Kristina Loring
You can subscribe to Cooking by Ear wherever you listen to podcast: Apple, Stitcher, etc. Also, you can listen at cookingbyearpodcast.com, where you’ll find recipe lists so you can prepare before you listen to more episodes.
This week's episode featured music from: Black Moth Super Rainbow, Django Reinhardt, and M.I.A.
