What have you read this summer that challenged your assumptions and made you think about things in new ways?
Summer is almost over – what philosophers, philosophies, or philosophical issues do you still want to read up on? Heidegger's Being and Time may not be the obvious choice for the dog days of August, but there are lots of readable, beach-friendly classics and non-classics to add philosophical depth to your summer reading. Host emeritus John Perry joins Debra and Ken to think about which classics of political philosophy, and Josh and Ken talk to a couple of past guests with new books: Steven Pinker from Harvard University, author of Enlightenment Now: The Case for Reason, Science, Humanism, and Progress, and Kathleen Dean Moore from Oregon State University, author of Great Tide Rising: Towards Clarity and Moral Courage in a Time of Planetary Change. Sunday 8/19 at 11 am and Tuesday 8/21 at 12 noon.
