LA teachers win new contract after strike

On this special Your Call segment, we'll discuss what the strike means in the context of other teacher strikes and the ongoing needs of public schools.

After a week on strike, Los Angeles teachers and the district have agreed to a new contract. It includes an immediate 6 percent raise for teachers, an at least seven-student reduction in all high school math and English classes, and consideration by the school board of a non-binding resolution urging the state legislature to limit the expansion of charter schools.

Eric Heins, president of the California Teachers Association
