The city of Hayward opened a free COVID-19 testing clinic on Monday. Photographer Jenny G. Shao headed out on Wednesday to see who was taking advantage of the opportunity. In this collection of photos, we see her journey by BART from San Francisco through Oakland to the Hayward testing facility, witnessing a Bay Area nearly void of people in public along the way.

By the time she arrived in early afternoon, the center was out of test kits.

Jenny G. Shao
Jenny G. Shao is a freelance multimedia journalist. Her reporting background is largely local and general assignment but has included community advocacy and crime. As a native San Franciscan, she has a particular interest in all things San Francisco Bay Area.
