I’ve always felt diffident about our Kali. She seems difficult to explain to the uninitiated.
She is no genteel Goddess unlike most other Indian goddesses, benign and beatific. But these days when I read about stories of rape and sexual assault, whether in Indian cities or Hollywood boardrooms, in a country which worship skin bleaching creams, when my social media timeline is flooded with "me-too" stories of harassment from women I know, Kali seems exactly the kind of Goddess we all need.
