If you haven’t already met 15-year-old Kelvin Doe, it’s time. The kid will no doubt be a household name in the U.S. within a decade.
For now, the tech prodigy lives in Sierra Leone, where he built an FM transmitter, from refuse and scrap metal, to relay the news texted in from his community (and to moonlight as DJ Focus). He also built his own generator to power that station. And he recently completed a three-week residency at MIT, thanks to fellow Sierra Leonean and PhD student David Sengeh, who spotted Kelvin’s talent in a summer tech bootcamp he launched back home.
