After Chicago's Eleven-Day Teachers' Strike, What Will It Take To Fully Fund Public Education?

Ashlee Garcia Rezin/Sun-Times
Thousands of striking Chicago Teachers Union members and their supporters march through the Loop on the first day of the strike on Oct. 17, 2019.

On this edition of Your Call, we’ll have a conversation about teachers’ strikes sweeping the country with public education advocate Diane Ravitch.

The most recent strike in Chicago was that city’s longest teacher strike in more than three decades. The demands from teachers across the country include librarians, full-time nurses, social workers, and manageable class sizes. What have teachers won? What will it take to fully fund public education and make it more equitable?

Diane Ravitch, Research Professor of Education at New York University and author of The Wisdom and Wit of Diane Ravitch
