What Will It Take For Progressives To Build Power At The Local Level?
On this edition of Your Call, Meaghan Winter discusses her new book All Politics Is Local: Why Progressives Must Fight for the States.
After the 2016 election, Republicans had their largest majority in the US since 1928. They controlled legislative chambers in 32 states and governors' offices in 33 states. What happened? Winter argues that the Democratic Party has abandoned the states to focus on federal races. She argues that the fallout has been catastrophic. In her book, she travels to three battleground states, Missouri, Florida and Colorado, to find out how progressives are turning the tide by taking back political power.
