This week on Open Air, KALW’s radio magazine for the Bay Area performing arts, guest host Peter Robinson talks with dramaturg Kip Cranna, about The Ring, San Francisco Opera’s production of Wagner’s epic opera cycle Der Ring des Nibelungen, from June 12 through July 1.

Also, a conversation with Andrew Wood, executive director of the San Francisco International Arts Festival, about the program of the 2018 edition of the Festival, which features performances by forty different artist ensembles and companies at the Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture (FMCAC) in San Francisco, from May 24 – June 3. He will be accompanied by artists Mariam Diakite and Yvette Dibos, who are both part of the festival.

Local author local author Steven Herrmann stops by to share details about his new book Emily Dickinson - A Medicine Woman for Our Times; and also in the studio is music director and conductor David Ramadanoff, to talk about the upcoming pops concert by the Young People’s Symphony Orchestra, on June 10 (3pm) at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Ascension in Oakland.
