As we kick off our "small, but mighty" September membership campaign, we will be hosting an all day music special on Saturday September 14 from noon to midnight! It will be a celebration of local music and local radio and the connections and community we build together. Saturday is all about our diverse original music programming. Check out our lineup, and tune in, it’s ALL DAY MUSIC!
Noon-3 pm: Kickoff Special! Crosscurrents producer Martina Castro will host this live-music special! Guests will include:
·Sarah Cahill, host of Revolutions Per Minute & the Alexander String Quartet will perform the first movement from Mozart’s Piano Quartet in E-flat major.
·Richard Friedman & Dennis Aman of Music from Other Minds.
·Local musicians Quinn DeVeaux & Meklit Hadero perform songs from their upcoming solo albums and duet from their record together.
·Grammy-nominated musician John Santos, creator of the Crosscurrents theme music.
·Emmanuel Nado & Edwin Okong’o, hosts of Africa Mix, celebrate African artists, local and global.
3-5 pm: Folk Music and Beyond! JoAnn Mar & Bob Campbell host, with a live, in-studio performance by the California Revels.
5-6:30 pm: A Patchwork Quilt! Kevin Vance celebrates great local bands, including Blame Sally.
6:30-8pm: Bluegrass Signal! Peter Thompson plays local acts from his hand-curated Bluegrass Sampler.
8pm-midnight: Tangents! Host Dore Stein welcomes fingerstyle guitarist Guy Buttery for a live performance, followed by three Tangentially-themed hours of great music.
