Hear a different poet at 7:49 a.m. Monday - Thursday throughout the month of April, which is National Poetry Month. Today's poet is Nyah reading, "Where I'm From." National Poetry Month was originally organized by the Academy of American Poets as a way to increase awareness and appreciation of poetry in the United States.
For several years KALW has partnered with America Scores and the San Francisco United School District to bring you original poems written by young students, read in their own voice.
Where I’m From, by Nyah
I am from Richmond
where I like to be happy
it is very big
I hear cars
I am from my home
Where my mom likes to cook food
Where I get to play with my dog Wolve
Like two racing dogs
I am from the house
I love my dog where I can see cats purr
and I see my TV
I am from my family
That loves me
My family tells me to go play
I feel as good as the sun
