This legislative session, California Governor Gavin Newsom had dozens of bills on his desk to consider signing into law. And the range of issues was wide, from police use of force, to water use, from vaccine exemptions to microchip implants in pets. Some he vetoed, others he signed.

The past month there have been debates over how to manage the water in the Delta — the Bay Area’s largest source of freshwater — and that's drawn a lot of attention from the state capitol. What it comes down to is whether more water should go to fish or to farms.

Male, Female, or Nonbinary. Californians may get more choices on state documents

Californians might have more options than just “M” for male, or “F” for female, on their driver’s license soon, if Governor Brown signs a bill on his desk into law in the next few weeks.
