For many people in the Bay Area, the holidays aren’t complete without a big meal of fresh Dungeness crab. The commercial season was supposed to begin on November 15th, just in time for Thanksgiving. But this year, fishermen had to wait a month to set their traps.

The St. John Coltrane African Orthodox Church, a uniquely San Franciscan storefront ministry dedicated to the music and preachings of the soulful sax man, is facing eviction and may be gone as soon as Sunday’s sermon ends.


December 14, 2015.  These are tough times for fishermen in California.  Unsafe toxin levels have postponed Dungeness crab season indefinitely, and state officials warn that the winter-run Chinook salmon is on the brink of extinction. Host Joseph Pace speaks with guests about these issues and explores whether global warming is to blame and what can be done to address them.
