California Imposes New Restrictions In Pandemic

Governor Gavin Newsom said he was pulling the “emergency brake” Monday on reopening the state's economy as coronavirus cases surge at the fastest rate since the start of the outbreak.

Governor Newsom announced this week  that California will not distribute a federally approved COVID-19 vaccine without putting it under the state’s scrutiny first. He created a scientific review committee to help with the process.

 

Dr. Arthur Reingold is the head of the Epidemiology Division at the UC Berkeley School of Public Health. And he’s the chair of this new vaccine committee.

The Glass and Zagg fires in Sonoma, Napa, and Shasta county have burned tens of thousands of acres, taking with them homes and infrastructure. 70,000 people have been ordered to evacuate.

Governor Newsom spoke this morning of the importance of multi-state collaboration in responding to COVID-19. He said that he had just completed a call between President Trump and all 50 state governors.

Pacific Gas and Electric has five months to get itself out of bankruptcy.
