CA Senate Votes On Bill Guaranteeing Garment Workers The State's Minimum Wage
On this edition of Your Call, we’ll get an update on the Garment Worker Protection Act or Senate Bill 1399, which would guarantee a minimum wage for California’s garment workers. The Senate is voting on the bill today.
According to the Garment Worker Center, Los Angeles has the highest concentration of garment workers in the country. More than 45,000 people, mostly immigrant women, work 10 to 12 hours a day and make as little as $150 a week.
