In recent years, the Office of the Inspector General at the Department of Homeland Security received an average of more than one complaint of sexual assault a day. In a joint investigation, Rewire.News and NPR’s Latino USA examined one woman’s allegation and found that the process meant to hold detention centers accountable is failing survivors. What will it take to protect immigrants in detention?
