On this edition of Your Call we speak with performer, director and teacher Rhodessa Jones. “When did your hands become a weapon?” is the title and core question of a theatrical production that Jones is bringing to the stage.
The performance explores domestic violence and the feeling of being held captive at home. It’s a collaboration with the Women’s HIV Program at UCSF and her long-running Medea Project, which produces theater with incarcerated women. How can theater heal the lasting damage of trauma?
Guest:
Rhodessa Jones, co-artistic director of the San Francisco-based performance company Cultural Oddyssey and director of The Medea Project, a performance workshop committed to incarcerated women’s social and personal transformation
