Your Call: Creating an urban forest in East Palo Alto

Canopy via Federica Armstrong
Branching Out initiative planting on Beech Street, East Palo Alto back in September 2015

We’ll have a conversation with Uriel Hernandez, recipient of the 2017 Bay Nature Local Hero award for youth engagement.

Hernandez works for Canopy, a nonprofit that plants and cares for street trees in several South Bay communities. He helped establish a neighborhood tree-planting program in the underserved community of East Palo Alto. The goal is to plant 500 trees in the community by 2020. How are urban forests combating climate change and make neighborhoods healthier?
