Your Call: The untold story of Native American enslavement
On the May 25th edition of Your Call, Professor Andrés Reséndez joins us to discuss his new book, The Other Slavery, the Uncovered Story of Indian Enslavement in America.
From the days of Columbus to the beginning of the 20th Century, between 2.5 and 5 million Indigenous people were enslaved across the Americas. While most Americans have learned about epidemics such as smallpox decimating indigenous populations, Reséndez agues slavery played a more significant role.
Why is there little known about Native American slavery? What are the ripple effects of that legacy today? It's Your Call with Rose Aguilar and you.
