The Spot: The Home

SFMOMA's podcast "Raw Material" has a new season, produced by KALW Audio Academy Graduate Geraldine Ah-Sue.

This week on KALW's showcase for the best stories from public radio podcasts and independent radio producers...

"The Home," produced by Geraldine Ah-Sue & SFMOMAfor the podcast Raw Material, May 2017.

On each season of Raw Material, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art(SFMOMA) partners with a different “podcaster-in-residence” to explore modern and contemporary art through the sounds and voices of artists working here in the Bay Area. They’ve just launched their second season titled “Manifest,” wherein Host Geraldine Ah-Sue explores the intersections of social justice, community, and art. The six-episode season gives listeners an intimate look into multiple artists’ practices and the personal stories and politics that they carry with them and bring into their art works. In this episode of Raw Material, they speak with artists and consider just what "home" can mean.

We also get a behind-the-scene peek at how the latest season of "Raw Material" came together from its producer, Geraldine Ah-Sue.

We didn't have time to include the full episode (which included a third interview, with Musician Diana Gameros), but you can hear it all by subscribing toRaw Materialon iTunesor wherever else you listen to podcasts.

This week's episode featured music from: Black Moth Super Rainbow, Four Tet, and Diana Gameros.

If you have a suggestion for a podcast or an audio project we should feature, please drop us a line at thespot@kalw.org.

Tune in next week for another episode of The Spot, only on KALW San Francisco.
