City Visions: A conversation with the new OUSD and SFUSD Superintendents
This summer, both San Francisco and Oakland welcomed new superintendents. Both individuals were educated in the district they will now be running. As leaders of high profile school districts that have had their share of problems in the past, these superintendents are under a great deal of pressure to succeed.
Among the challenges they will face are budget woes and a shortage of affordable housing for teachers. Will the superintendents’ familiarity with their school districts help them to navigate the notoriously tricky waters of school management? What is their vision going forward, and how will they deal with the many challenges facing Bay Area public schools? The superintendents discuss these issues and more with host Joseph Pace.
